bLibertyJSC Liberty Bank (former People’s Bank of Georgia) has completed the certification of its in-house processing centre in MasterCard payment systems (Issuing and Acquiring to include EMV-cards) receiving principal member status. This is another example of the successful long-term relationship between the bank and Compass Plus. Becoming certified in MasterCard enables JSC Liberty Bank to offer a new range of products to their customers and to supply new services to the market. Another added advantage is that the bank can now offer its sponsored banks the opportunity to participate in international payment systems.

Today JSC Liberty Bank has the widest branch network in Georgia and is the country’s largest card issuer (issuing over half the number of total cards) and carries out the project of servicing all state pensions and allowances for the government of Georgia. Since 2006, the bank has been successfully using its in-house processing and card personalization centre, built on the TranzWare product suite, to carry out innovative projects.

Established in 2002, Liberty Bank is the seventh largest bank in Georgia in terms of total assets, with a 4.4% market share as of 28th February, 2010 (up from 3.7% as of 30th September, 2009). Liberty Bank has the largest branch network in Georgia, comprising of 175 branches, and serves approximately 1.2 million customers.
